  1. Senior General Than Shwe welcomes back Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win on his return
    from Lao PDR, Vietnam and Cambodia

    YANGON, 9 April — Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar Lt-Gen Soe Win arrived back here by special flight at 10 am today after paying goodwill visits to Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Vietnam and Cambodia at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Lao PDR Mr Bounnhang Vorachith, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Mr Phan Van Khai and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Mr Samdech Hun Sen.

    At Yangon International Airport, Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win and party were welcomed back by Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Than Shwe, Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Maung Aye, Member of the State Peace and Development Council General Thura Shwe Mann of the Ministry of Defence, Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Thein Sein, members of the State Peace and Development Council, the Commander-in-Chief (Navy), the Commander-in-Chief (Air), the Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command, ministers, senior military officers, charges d’affaires ai of the Laos Embassy, the Vietnamese Embassy and the Cambodian Embassy and embassy staffs and officials. When the Prime Minister arrived back, ladies of three embassies presented bouquets to the Prime Minister.

    Members of the Myanmar delegation led by the Prime Minister, Minister for Commerce Brig-Gen Tin Naing Thein, Minister for Information Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan, Minister for Cooperatives Col Zaw Min, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Thu and departmental heads also arrived back on the same flight.

  2. Laotian Prime Minister hosts dinner in honour of Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win and party

    YANGON, 9 April — The Myanmar Delegation led by Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar Lt-Gen Soe Win on an official visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic were hosted a dinner by Prime Minister of Lao PDR Mr Bounnhang Vorachith at Lao Plaza Hotel in Vientiane at 7 pm on 6 April.

    Also present at the dinner were the ministers, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Myanmar Ambassador to Lao PDR, the Military Attaché and departmental heads.

    The Prime Minister of the Lao PDR was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Mr Somsavat Lengsavad, the ministers, the deputy ministers, the MPs and senior officials.

    At the dinner, Prime Minister of the Lao PDR Mr Bounnhang Vorachith and Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win proposed toasts.

    Before and during the dinner, they enjoyed songs and traditional dances by Lao cultural troupe.

    After the dinner, Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win together with Prime Minister Mr Bounnhang Vorachith presented the artistes a basket of bouquet.

    Next, they posed for a documentary photo together with the artistes.

  3. Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win arrives in Vientiane

    YANGON, 9 April— At the invitation of Prime Minister of Lao People’s Democratic Republic Mr Bounnhang Vorachith, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Mr Phan Van Khai and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Mr Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar Lt-Gen Soe Win, accompanied by Minister for Commerce Brig-Gen Tin Naing Thein, Minister for Information Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan, Minister for Coopera-tives Col Zaw Min, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Thu and officials left here on 6 April for LPDR as the first leg of three-nation tour.

    The Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win and party arrived at Wat Tay International Airport in Vientiane at 10:25 am local time.

    First, Myanmar Ambassador to LPDR U Tin Oo and Head of Protocol Department of LPDR Mr Ly Bounkham boarded the plane and welcomed the members of Myanmar goodwill delegation.

    Members of Myanmar goodwill delegation led by the Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar were welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of LPDR Mr Somsavat Lengsavad, LPDR Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Chanthavy Bodhisane, Myanmar Ambassador U Tin Oo and wife Daw Thida Htay, Military Attachè Col Hla Myint and wife Daw Theingi Soe, embassy staff and families.

    A young Myanmar girl presented bouquet to the Prime Minister who descended the plane.

    Members of Myanmar goodwill delegation led by the Prime Minister, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of LPDR Mr Somsavat Lengsavad and officials, arrived at the National Assembly where they were welcomed by Prime Minister of Lao People’s Democratic Republic Mr Bounnhang Vorachith. Next, a young Laotian girl presented bouquet to the Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win.

    A ceremony to welcome members of Myanmar goodwill delegation led by the Prime Minister was held at the National Assembly building. Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win and Prime Minister Mr Bounnhang Vorachith went to the dais and took the salute of the Guard of Honour. At that time, The State Band played the anthems of the Union of Myanmar and LPDR. The two Prime Ministers inspected the Guard of Honour.

    Prime Minister Mr Bounnhang Vorachith presented Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of LPDR Mr Somsavat Lengsavad, the minister, the deputy minister, senior officers from armed forces and police, MPs and senior officials to Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win.

    Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win also presented members of Myanmar delegation to Prime Minister Mr Bounnhang Vorachith. The members of Myanmar delegation led by Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win went to the Memorial Monument and laid werath.

    They next went to Lao Plaza Hotel in Vientiane.

  4. PM Lt-Gen Soe Win leaves for Vietnam

    YANGON, 9 April — The Myanmar Delegation led by Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win of the Union of Myanmar were cordially greeted by Prime Mi-nister of Lao People’s Democratic Republic Mr Bounnhang Vorachith at Lao Plaza Hotel in LPDR on 7 April morning.

    At the meeting, Prime Minister of Lao PDR Mr Bounnhang Vorachith presented Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win of the Union of Myanmar documentary photo album on the goodwill visit as a gift.

    Also present on the occasion were the Min-isters, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Myanmar Ambassador to Lao PDR, the military attaché and departmental heads.

    On arrival at Wat Tay International Airport in Vientiane at 8 am, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Lao PDR Mr Somsavat Lengsavad, Lao PDR Ambassador to the Union of Myanmar Mr Chanthavy Bodhisane and officials, Myanmar Ambassador to Lao PDR U Tin Oo and wife Daw Thida Htay, Military Attachè Col Hla Myint and wife Daw Theingi Soe, staff of Myanmar Embassy and Military Attaché’s Office and families bade farewell to Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win and party.

    Next, Prime Minister Lt-Gen Soe Win and party left for Vietnam by special aircraft.
