Industry-1 Minister receives Indian delegation
YANGON, 4 May — Minister for Industry-1 U Aung Thaung received an
Indian delegation led by Chairman Dr Lalit Kumar Malhotra of New
Delhi-based International Affairs Committee for Asia & Oceania of
PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry India, at his office this
evening.
They cordially discussed investment and exchange of technologies
on common interest.
Also present at the call were Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Thein Tun,
directors-general and managing directors of departments and
industries.

Economic cooperation between Myanmar and the Philippines discussed
YANGON, 4 May— Minister for Forestry Brig-Gen Thein Aung received
Minister of Environment and Natural Resource of the Philippines Mr
Michael T Defensor and party at the International Business Centre
on Pyay Road, here, this morning. Also present on the occasion
were officials of the Ministry of Forestry and National Commission
for Environmental Affairs of the Union of Myanmar.
Next, the discussion of bilateral economy cooperation between
Myanmar and the Philippines followed. Also present on the occasion
were officials of the Ministry of Forestry, National Commission
for Environmental Affairs and Myanmar Timber Entrepreneurs
Association and the members of Philippine delegation.
The visiting minister and party met with officials of the Union of
Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry at Sedona
hotel here this afternoon.
The Philippines delegation visited Teak Farm Timber Industry in
Hlinethaya Industrial Zone at noon. Officials explained the
salient point of their industry to them.
Minister for Forestry Brig-Gen Thein Aung hosted a dinner to the
visiting minister at IBC in the evening. This morning, the
Philippine delegation visited Shwedagon Pagoda.

Thailand Exhibition 2005
opens
YANGON, 4 May — The Thailand Exhibition 2005 under the arrangement
of enhancing economic cooperation between Myanmar and Thailand was
opened at Yangon Trade Centre in Mingala Taungnyunt Township this
morning.
Present were Deputy Minister for Industry-2 Lt-Col Khin Maung Kyaw,
Deputy Minster for Commerce Brig-Gen Aung Tun, Deputy Minister for
Information Brig-Gen Aung Thein, Charge d’Affaires ai of the Royal
Thai Embassy Mr Opas Chantrasab, Commercial Attaché Mr Matyawongse
Amatyakul, officials and guests.
Charge d’Affairs ai of the Royal Thai Embassy Mr Opas Chantrasab
delivered a speech.
Deputy Minster for Commerce Brig-Gen Aung Tun formally opened the
Thailand Exhibition. The deputy ministers and guests visited the
booths.
Chemicals, construction materials, electrical appliances,
cosmetics, food and beverages, packaging devices, furniture,
textile, clothing, household items and utensils, leatherware,
medicines, stationery, machinery and spare parts are on display at
141 booths.
The exhibition opens from 10 am to 6 pm till 7 May. Participants
are welcomed to Thai food eating contest, managed by TTF ( Yangon
) Co Ltd.

Dy FM signs book of condolences
YANGON, 4 May — Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Maung Myint
signed the Book of Condolences at the Embassy of the Republic of
Singapore at 3 pm today, in memory of late Dr Wee Kim Wee, former
President of the Republic of Singapore.
